Job Title

Board Test Engineer

Role Summary

The Board Test Engineer will develop and maintain manufacturing test content, fixtures, firmware, and procedures for complex high-power, high-speed PCBA used in AI accelerator systems. The role partners with hardware, firmware, SI/PI, and manufacturing teams to deliver reliable board-level test coverage through NPI, ramp, and production.

Experience Level

Mid-level (4–7 years) in board or PCBA test engineering in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on developing test solutions and diagnosing board-level issues across manufacturing stages.

  • Develop and maintain board/PCBA manufacturing test content for ICT, boundary scan/JTAG, and functional test stages.
  • Design and support board-level functional test solutions, including fixtures, probes, cabling, and instrumentation.
  • Develop MCU-based board test firmware for manufacturing diagnostics, self-test, and telemetry validation.
  • Implement tests to detect assembly defects, component failures, solder issues, and manufacturing marginalities.
  • Develop PCIe-focused board-level tests to verify chip-to-chip connectivity and integrity.
  • Support bring-up, debug, and qualification of board test stations at offshore EMS/CM sites.
  • Analyze test failures and yield data to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Contribute to test documentation: specifications, debug procedures, and manufacturing release notes.
  • Support fixture qualification, tester correlation, and ongoing test maintenance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience for immediate contribution.

  • 4–7 years of board or PCBA test engineering in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with functional test development, ICT, and boundary scan/JTAG.
  • Experience designing or supporting test fixtures and automated test stations.
  • Working knowledge of high-speed digital interfaces and common board-level failure modes.
  • Experience developing or supporting embedded test firmware on MCUs.
  • Strong debug skills across digital logic, power delivery, and interconnect issues.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with offshore manufacturing partners.

Preferred:

  • Experience testing boards with AI accelerators, GPUs, networking ASICs, or other high-power devices.
  • Familiarity with high-current VRMs, multiphase power converters, and power integrity testing.
  • Exposure to PCIe Gen5/Gen6 or other high-speed serial links in production test environments.
  • Experience using factory data systems and yield analysis to improve test coverage and throughput.
  • Experience supporting board test during NPI, ramp, and sustained production.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
