Bluespec Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and deliver production RTL at the full-chip or subsystem level using Bluespec, a hardware description language based on Haskell. The role focuses on compute, memory management, and high-speed connectivity for high-performance GenAI silicon.

Strong Haskell skills are required; hardware domain knowledge is helpful but not mandatory — the team will train candidates on hardware concepts and Bluespec.

Experience Level

Open to early-career, mid-career, and senior candidates. No strict years-of-experience requirement stated; prior hardware experience is optional if the candidate is proficient in Haskell.

Responsibilities

Deliver reusable, production-quality hardware components and tooling using Bluespec.

• Implement production hardware for compute, memory management, and high-speed connectivity.
• Develop reusable, parameterized Bluespec libraries and components that scale across the chip.
• Evaluate architecture and implementation tradeoffs to converge on performant designs.
• Create tooling and automation for the hardware/software ecosystem to improve correctness and development velocity.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, logistical constraints, and compliance requirements.

• Must-have: Proficient in Haskell (comfortable with monads, typeclasses, higher-order functions, and do-notation).
• Must-have: Strong engineering fundamentals: clean, well-tested, well-documented code; familiarity with build systems, version control, and CI workflows.
• Must-have: Willingness and ability to rapidly learn Bluespec Haskell (BH).
• Must-have: Authorized to work in the United States and able to work from the Mountain View, CA office Tuesdays–Thursdays.
• Must-have: Ability to comply with U.S. export control laws as required for this role (employment contingent on compliance without obtaining a license).
• Note: Prior hardware design experience is not required; candidates with Haskell skills will be trained on hardware concepts.
• Nice-to-have: Existing Bluespec experience, ASIC or FPGA hardware design experience (clock domains, pipelining, state machines, synthesis, timing closure), or production Rust experience.
