Job Title

BAW Research & Development Intern

Role Summary

Internship within Qorvo's Global Operations group focusing on bulk acoustic wave (BAW) filter research and development. The intern will support topology analysis, layout realization, module simulation, and competitor performance extraction for RF filter and multiplexer networks.

This is a hands-on, technical internship intended to develop RF simulation, measurement, and design skills under mentoring from experienced engineers.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for college students currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program. Suitable for students pursuing MS/PhD or upper-level undergraduates; no professional years-of-experience required.

Responsibilities

Typical assignments will be project-based and determined by business needs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform topology analysis to improve target filter designs.
  • Realize filter layouts using BAW technology.
  • Implement laminate and full-module simulations.
  • Extract topologies for filters and multiplexer networks from competitor parts.
  • Fit competitor performance from measurements to extract filter parameters.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes for successful performance in this internship:

  • Experience with electromagnetic/RF simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, or AWR.
  • Familiarity with RF measurement equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers).
  • Strong research, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and present results to engineering leads.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with filter design, impedance matching, or RF packaging.

Education Requirements

Enrollment in an accredited Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program is required. Preferred candidates are pursuing an MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics. Completed coursework in RF/Microwave circuit design is expected. Minimum GPA: 3.0.

Compensation: Competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience: $31/hr - $42/hr (subject to change by location).
