AVV Engineer
Texas InstrumentsJob Title
AVV Engineer
Role Summary
Work on functional validation of automotive microcontroller (MCU) peripherals and subsystems within the ASM Auto Group for EV/HEV and vehicle control applications. The role covers pre-silicon verification (RTL simulation, emulation, FPGA prototyping) and post-silicon bring-up and validation on silicon.
Experience Level
Mid-level - 2β5 years of engineering experience in silicon design and/or validation.
Responsibilities
Validate and verify MCU peripherals and communication interfaces through test development, automation, debug, and reporting.
- Own functional validation of automotive peripherals and communication interfaces across pre-silicon and post-silicon phases.
- Develop requirements-based test plans, directed tests, and negative/corner-case scenarios.
- Create and maintain firmware test suites and automation for validation workflows.
- Debug HW/SW interactions using firmware, RTL waveforms, emulation, and silicon bring-up.
- Execute first-silicon bring-up, regression runs, coverage tracking, and performance benchmarking on assigned blocks.
- Reproduce customer issues, perform root-cause analysis, and verify fixes.
- Produce validation reports, test plans, and coordinate with RTL designers and architects on design issues.
Requirements
Core technical requirements and preferred skills for successful candidates.
- 2β5 years experience working with silicon design and/or validation, including pre- and post-silicon activities.
- Hands-on experience with RTL simulation, emulation platforms (QuickTurn/Palladium/ZeBu) or FPGA prototyping.
- Experience with digital/embedded design and functional validation workflows.
- Strong debugging skills across firmware and hardware; experience with waveform analysis and silicon bring-up.
Nice-to-have
- Embedded C for drivers, interrupts, DMA, and register-level programming.
- Python for test automation and log/result analysis.
- Experience with ARM architecture and automotive protocols (CAN FD, LIN); Ethernet MAC fundamentals.
- Hands-on lab experience with JTAG/SWD debuggers and bench tools.
- Working knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety concepts, Git, and strong technical documentation skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (Bachelor's Degree specified).
