Automotive Product Engineer, Senior
QualcommJob Title
Automotive Product Engineer, Senior
Role Summary
Senior engineer responsible for new product introduction (NPI), silicon validation and characterization, and developing high-volume production test solutions for automotive SoC products. Works with cross-functional teams (design, verification, software, systems, operations) to drive products from prototype to production and support customer needs.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting indicates an experience baseline tied to education (see Education Requirements). Typical expectations include hands-on experience in product development, ATE/test development, silicon validation, or production test; qualification examples provided by the employer start at roughly 2+ years with a Bachelor's, 1+ year with a Master’s, or PhD-level experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include verification, characterization, test development, and production readiness activities for automotive semiconductor products.
- Plan, verify, and optimize test cases; perform hands-on work on Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and related HW/SW.
- Execute PVT (process-voltage-temperature) characterization and system-level correlation activities.
- Develop and evaluate manufacturing/test solutions to improve yield, test time, and product quality.
- Analyze silicon/test data and produce technical reports to guide engineering decisions.
- Review schematics, debug lab issues, and validate test programs and hardware.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate features and implement production test requirements.
- Document technical work and present findings to engineering stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Practical experience in product development, ATE test, silicon validation/characterization, or high-volume production test (experience level linked to education in Education Requirements).
- Experience operating, validating, or debugging test programs on Automated Test Equipment and developing ATE hardware/software.
- Hands-on lab experience with measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers, spectrum/network analyzers, power supplies, TIAs, etc.).
- Programming or scripting skills (examples: Python, C, C++, Java, assembly, C#/.NET, embedded software) for test development and data analysis.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and summarizing silicon validation, characterization, or production test data to inform decisions.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams and communicate technical information clearly.
- Self-driven, able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ATE platforms such as Advantest V93000/93K, Teradyne, or similar systems.
- Familiarity with SoC test methodologies, digital/VLSI concepts, CPU architecture, ATPG/Scan/JTAG, memory BIST, and high-speed interfaces (SerDes, memory interfaces).
- Experience with CMOS analog/mixed-signal measurements (ADC, DAC, PLL, LDO, LNA) and sensor validation.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (JMP, NI tools, Exensio, Excel, Python libraries) and AI/ML techniques for analytics.
- Experience with embedded systems, low-level software debug, Android/Windows/Linux/RTOS environments, and automotive validation/production test support.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or related field. Employer lists alternatives: Master's degree (preferred) or PhD are acceptable with reduced experience requirements. The posting also specifies degree+experience combinations (e.g., Bachelor’s + 2+ years; Master’s + 1+ year; or PhD). Equivalent practical experience is implied by the alternative degree pathways.
