Job Title

Automotive Module Product Engineer, Senior

Role Summary

Join the Automotive Product and Test Engineering team to support new product introduction (NPI), system-level test (SLT) bring-up, silicon characterization, qualification, and high-volume manufacturing readiness for automotive SoCs and QAMs used in IVI, ADAS, and telematics.

The role works with cross-functional engineering teams (hardware, software, systems, test, and operations) to develop and integrate HW test platforms, automate test software, debug failures, and enable products for production and customer deployment.

Experience Level

Senior β€” guidance provided: typically 2+ years of relevant product development, SLT/bench testing, silicon validation, characterization, or production test experience. (See Education Requirements for degree/alternative combinations.)

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on hardware and system-level test development, validation, and production readiness.

  • Bring up new SLT hardware platforms, handlers, and production test solutions.
  • Develop, automate, and integrate software test modules and sequencers; optimize for stability across temperature and production environments.
  • Create and execute test strategies and detailed test plans; perform systems correlation for power and thermal.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and perform failure analysis; evaluate and qualify hardware solutions.
  • Collaborate with design, verification, validation, software, and operations teams to incorporate requirements and improve yield, test time, and product quality.
  • Document technical work and test procedures; provide customer and cross-team technical support.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Preferred items listed separately.

  • 2+ years of experience in product development, SLT/bench testing, silicon validation, characterization, or high-volume production test for semiconductor products.
  • Understanding of computer architecture and operating systems (Android, Windows, Linux, or RTOS).
  • Experience with embedded systems and SoC-level testing concepts; exposure to AI applications is useful.
  • Ability to develop and execute test cases for processors, graphics, memory, thermal behavior, and power performance of SoCs.
  • Experience reading specifications, creating test plans, and using test sequencers.
  • Familiarity with source control systems such as Perforce or Git.
  • Programming experience in one or more of: C, C++, Python, C#, or .NET.
  • Debugging and triage experience with Android debugging tools, JTAG, Lauterbach, or Trace32.
  • Hands-on experience with lab measurement tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies) and data collection/analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with Android system architecture and boot process.
  • Experience with system-level benchmarks (e.g., Dhrystone, DOU).
  • Relevant projects or internships in silicon validation, embedded systems, or hardware bring-up.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Preferred: Master's degree in those fields. Qualcomm also lists alternative combinations: Bachelor's + 2+ years relevant experience, Master's + 1+ year relevant experience, or a PhD in a related technical field. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable where stated.
