ATE Test Development Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and validate automated test equipment (ATE) software and hardware for high-speed networking switch ASICs. Work within the Core Switching Group test development team to bring designs to manufacturing test, support production release, and collaborate with product, design, and production teams.
Experience Level
Senior — requires multi-year proven experience (see Education Requirements for explicit years).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop ATE test programs for high-speed, high-power networking switch ASICs (SerDes >100G) on Teradyne UltraFlex platforms.
- Drive test hardware development for final test and probe; coordinate with PCB designers and probe/socket vendors.
- Debug and bring up test hardware and programs on ATE; investigate and resolve failure mechanisms.
- Optimize test programs to reduce test time and improve yield without impacting product quality.
- Support production release and collaborate with production teams (Asia) during ramp.
- Work closely with product and design engineers to validate test requirements and performance.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Hands-on experience with Teradyne UltraFlex tester platforms.
- Ability to independently develop complex ATE test flows addressing performance and power.
- Experience debugging/troubleshooting device failures and correlating ATE data with system issues.
- Proficiency in volume data analysis and scripting/programming for test method development.
- Experience working with test-hardware development teams and understanding hardware contributions to chip behavior.
- Experience with extreme-temperature ASIC testing on ATE.
- Strong cross-functional communication and production handoff capability.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience using AI tools to accelerate script development.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 8+ years of related experience, or Master's degree in Engineering with 6+ years of related experience.
