ATD Laser Development Engineer
Role Summary
Develop laser assembly and packaging processes and equipment for semiconductor packaging within Intel Foundry. Work spans process definition, equipment specifications, manufacturability, reliability, and supplier collaboration to meet quality, yield, cost, and productivity targets.
Experience Level
Entry-level (college graduate). Appropriate for new graduates or engineers with approximately 0β3 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
- Design and develop laser assembly packaging processes and related equipment.
- Optimize processes to meet quality, reliability, cost, yield, and productivity requirements.
- Define process and equipment specifications using Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis.
- Manage manufacturability of physical layouts and the full cycle of packaging process flows.
- Establish laser process specifications and work with suppliers to achieve performance and quality targets.
- Develop techniques and quality screens to identify packaging quality and reliability issues early.
- Set process reliability requirements informed by failure mechanisms and influence design/material selections.
- Drive standardization of qualification procedures and manufacturing quality systems in cross-functional teams.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills:

Must-have: Proficiency with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE).

Must-have: Fundamental understanding of laser and optical systems.

Must-have: Ability to analyze data to develop process specifications and drive improvements.

Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience in manufacturing or semiconductor packaging and troubleshooting laser-based equipment/systems.

Nice-to-have: Familiarity with equipment adjustment, process characterization, and manufacturability in electronics or semiconductor assembly.

Nice-to-have: Experience applying data science or statistics tools (Python, NumPy/Pandas, SQL, JMP, Minitab) to large datasets.

Education Requirements
