Job Title

Associate Test Engineer

Role Summary

Perform hands-on testing, calibration, troubleshooting and validation of electrical and optomechanical assemblies and final systems used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Work with engineering teams to develop and execute system-level test procedures and report technical findings.

This role is on a test/validation team working with industry-leading technologies in a clean-room environment and requires practical laboratory skills and a methodical, collaborative approach.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Associate). Typical background: up to several years of hands-on test experience or early-career engineers.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include lab setup, test execution, troubleshooting, and documentation.

  • Set up, calibrate, test and troubleshoot circuits, components, instruments and mechanical assemblies.
  • Develop or follow test specifications, methods and procedures from drawings and diagrams.
  • Test and troubleshoot assemblies and final systems; perform rework as required.
  • Prepare technical reports summarizing findings and recommended solutions.
  • Assist in selection and setup of specialized test equipment.
  • Perform routine assignments with minimal supervision and apply judgment on moderately complex problems.

Requirements

Must-have practical skills, physical capabilities, and workplace behaviors for successful performance.

  • Hands-on experience testing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical and optomechanical systems and assemblies.
  • Able to work in a clean-room environment.
  • Experience in systems development and testing, including creating and executing test specifications and recording results.
  • Prior hands-on experience testing digital and/or analog components and systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, math and technical documentation; use a variety of test and measurement instruments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English; effective cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Organized, logical problem-solving approach, good time management and task prioritization.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and follow general instructions on new tasks; willingness to learn and improve.
  • Willing to work extended hours, including weekends when required.
  • Physical ability to stand, sit, bend and periodically lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience using oscilloscopes and digital voltmeters (DVM).
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW, Linux and MS Office.
  • Experience with fine adjustment hand tools, torque wrenches and calipers.

Education Requirements

Minimum: either a BS degree or 4 years of related work experience (posting allows BS degree OR 4 years of work experience). No specific field-of-study was stated; equivalent practical experience is accepted.
