Associate Product Engineer

Role Summary

Join Semtech's Protection Business Unit to characterize, develop, and support manufacturing of protection analog/mixed-signal ICs. The role drives product characterization, testing, and documentation through development and into production, coordinating with test engineering, technicians, vendors, and cross-functional teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level. Typical candidates have 0–3 years of experience; 1–2 years in the semiconductor industry (analog and digital development) is preferred.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include product testing, documentation, coordination of characterization activities, and supporting new product introduction and customer inquiries.

  • Plan and execute sampling and product characterization tests; write performance specifications, test plans, and product performance reports.
  • Prepare characterization plans and coordinate technicians to complete performance tests.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide testing support across projects.
  • Perform product correlation, assess repeatability, and set limits in collaboration with Test Engineering.
  • Manage vendors to meet schedule and resolution targets.
  • Support new product introduction documentation and review product release materials for production.
  • Respond to customer requests by providing product performance and assembly information.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required and preferred.

Must-have:

  • Solid understanding of semiconductor device operation and electrical circuits, especially analog IC fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to learn new instruments and software quickly.
  • Effective verbal and written communication at all levels and ability to work in cross-functional, international teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Team player with a sense of urgency to meet product schedules.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with testing methodologies for high-volume production.
  • Background in statistical data analysis using Excel or other tools.
  • Familiarity with lab instruments and production testers.
  • 1–2 years' semiconductor experience in analog and digital development.

Education Requirements

B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering (as stated in the job posting).
