Associate Packaging Engineer

Role Summary

The Associate Packaging Engineer supports semiconductor package development and qualification within the Signal Integrity Products business unit. The role coordinates across design, manufacturing, quality, and operations to deliver prototypes, qualification vehicles, and early engineering samples through global suppliers.

Primary focus areas are manufacturing readiness, documentation, supplier oversight, and cross-functional technical communication to ensure timely delivery of qualified packages.

Entry-level / Associate. Suitable for early-career engineers seeking hands-on packaging and manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day responsibilities center on supplier oversight, documentation, and issue resolution for prototype and early production packages.

  • Provide manufacturing engineering oversight across multiple worldwide suppliers for prototypes, qualification vehicles, and early engineering samples.
  • Act as technical contact between engineering, operations, and quality teams.
  • Prepare engineering documentation and customized assembly instructions.
  • Select and manage raw material inventory related to package assembly.
  • Set priorities and track requirements in a dynamic development environment.
  • Track quality deviations and drive disposition and resolution with suppliers and internal teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for day-one effectiveness; nice-to-have items are noted.

  • Experience with manufacturing systems such as SAP and Agile (must-have).
  • Knowledge of packaging technologies: WLCSP, RDL, flip-chip BGA, System-in-Package (SiP), high-density substrates, and PCB design (must-have).
  • Familiarity with EDA/design tools (Cadence Advanced Package Designer, Artwork Qckvu, Asitic, DraftSight) β€” beneficial.
  • Understanding of reliability and qualification considerations for packaged ICs; familiarity with relevant industry specifications is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication; ability to work cross-functionally in a global team.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering OR 5+ years of relevant experience in an electronic manufacturing environment. Preferred: Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable per the posting.
