Associate Field Applications Engineer - Power Management

Role Summary

This is an entry-level field applications engineering role placed in a 12–24 month rotational program focused on power management and automotive battery management systems. The role provides hands-on technical training, customer engagement experience, and progression into ADI's worldwide sales team following the rotation.

Experience Level

Entry-level (New college graduate / Graduate rotation). Designed for recent graduates; typically 0–2 years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

Work with internal teams and customers to design, evaluate, and support power management solutions.

  • Design technical system proposals to meet customer power management requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and sales teams to develop customer solutions.
  • Assist in evaluation and design of customer systems, including hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoot customer hardware and firmware/software performance issues using lab equipment.
  • Collect and communicate customer technical requirements and market trends.
  • Contribute to product strategy and product definition activities.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to customer engineering and management teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and workplace requirements for successful candidates.

  • Basic understanding of electronic schematics, PCB layout, and electronic components.
  • Foundation in software fundamentals and ability to work with firmware/software for prototype debugging.
  • Experience debugging hardware and software using basic lab equipment.
  • Willingness to relocate to Southeastern Michigan at the completion of the rotational program.
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally (~10% of the time).

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of power regulation design principles and battery management systems.
  • Experience with lab measurement equipment and soldering.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for technical topics.
  • Good organizational skills, problem solving, self-motivation, and desire for continuous learning.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required or equivalent practical experience; equivalent technical degrees or demonstrated relevant experience will be considered.
