Job Title

Associate Engineer — Embedded Audio Software

Role Summary

Develop and integrate embedded audio software and drivers for ADI audio integrated circuits. Work on firmware, bring-up, test automation, and system integration with guidance from senior engineers.

Collaborate with hardware, DSP, systems, applications, and customer teams to deliver audio solutions for consumer devices. Travel required ~10%.

Experience Level

Entry-level — new college graduates welcome; role suitable for engineers with internship, academic project, or early industry experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, testing, and integrating embedded audio software and supporting tools.

  • Develop, optimize, and deploy embedded software and device drivers for audio ICs.
  • Implement, test, and debug audio software and firmware on embedded platforms.
  • Assist with audio system integration and bring-up on Linux, Windows, Android, and embedded targets.
  • Create automated tests, validation frameworks, and audio test procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve software and system issues with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Participate in source control workflows, code reviews, automated testing, and CI processes.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to accelerate coding, debugging, test generation, and documentation.
  • Continuously learn new technologies and contribute to improving development processes.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience are listed below; preferred skills follow.

  • Experience in embedded software, firmware, or audio software through projects, internships, research, or industry work.
  • Proficient programming in C/C++ and Python.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and modern IDEs; experience with automated testing and CI workflows.
  • Basic understanding of embedded systems, operating systems, or computer architecture.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
  • Interest in and ability to use AI-assisted software development tools while applying engineering judgment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Embedded Linux or RTOS development experience.
  • ALSA audio drivers, Android Audio Framework, or GUI application development.
  • Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and audio interfaces (I2S, TDM, USB Audio, PDM, PCM).
  • Experience with audio tuning, acoustic measurement, or audio signal analysis tools.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. New college graduates are explicitly welcome.
