Job Title
Associate Engineer, DEG Layout
Role Summary
Layout Design engineer on the DPG-IPDEV team responsible for analog and mixed-signal IP used in Micron DRAM designs. Work focuses on creating block-level layouts, verification, and full-chip integration for high-performance memory applications.
Experience Level
Entry-level β 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in analog/custom layout design.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include block layout implementation, verification, and project coordination across global teams.
- Design and develop critical analog, mixed-signal, custom digital blocks and support full-chip integration.
- Perform physical verification (LVS/DRC/Antenna), quality checks, and maintain documentation.
- Deliver block-level layouts on schedule with required quality and manufacturability.
- Plan area/time estimates, schedule tasks, and execute across multiple concurrent projects.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with global engineering teams and contribute to project management.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; concise listing of core requirements and a few preferred items.
-
Must-have: 1β3 years' experience in analog/custom layout design in advanced CMOS processes (Planar, FinFET).
-
Must-have: Expertise with Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre (DRC/LVS).
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience laying out critical blocks (e.g., temperature sensor, PLL, ADC, DAC, LDO, bandgap, reference generators, charge pump, current mirrors, comparators, differential amplifiers).
-
Must-have: Solid understanding of analog layout fundamentals (matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling/crosstalk, IR-drop, parasitics) and layout effects on speed, capacitance, power, and area.
-
Must-have: Ability to implement high-quality layouts, understand design hierarchy and memory-design architectures, and solve physical verification issues.
-
Must-have: Good verbal and written communication skills.
-
Nice-to-have: Multiple tape-out support experience.
-
Nice-to-have: Proactive use of AI-related tools to improve day-to-day tasks.
