RTL Design Jobs, Level - Entry or Early Career

Job Title

Associate Digital Engineer

Role Summary

Entry-level engineering role on the Manufacturing/digital sub-system team contributing to RTL design, verification, integration, and automation for SoC/MCU projects. Work involves implementing and verifying processor interfaces, control and debug functions, memory/bus interfaces, and safety/security features under senior engineer guidance.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Associate. Suitable for early-career engineers or recent graduates with foundational knowledge in digital design and basic scripting/programming experience.

Responsibilities

Primary day-to-day responsibilities include implementation, verification support, and documentation for digital sub-system features:

  • Implement or modify synthesizable RTL modules using Verilog/SystemVerilog (or VHDL) according to specifications and design guidelines.
  • Support analysis of requirements and detailed specifications for processor interfaces, platform control, debug, memory and bus interfaces.
  • Prepare design descriptions, interface information, timing behavior, and maintain traceability between requirements, RTL, and verification items.
  • Contribute to subsystem integration, interface connectivity checks, compile checks, configuration management, and design-release activities.
  • Contribute to verification planning and develop basic test cases, assertions, checkers, and regression tests for assigned functions.
  • Analyze simulation and verification results; assist in reviewing lint, CDC/RDC, synthesis, DFT, static timing, formal verification, coverage, and low-power verification outputs.
  • Investigate and reproduce failures, help identify root causes with guidance, and document corrective actions and verification evidence.
  • Develop and maintain simple automation scripts (Python, Tcl, Perl, Shell, etc.) to improve quality and productivity.
  • Maintain technical documents, change records, verification reports, and participate in peer reviews and knowledge sharing with global teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional attributes; preferred items listed separately.

  • Basic understanding of digital electronics, computer architecture, programming, or semiconductor design.
  • Basic knowledge of RTL design or verification concepts using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
  • Experience with programming or scripting in at least one language (Python, Tcl, Perl, Shell, C, or C++).
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new tools and concepts.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including working-level English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate across locations.

Nice-to-have (preferred):

  • Academic project, internship, or coursework in processor/computer architecture, functional safety, security, digital logic, ASIC/SoC design, or embedded systems.
  • Experience with RTL design/verification, UVM, assertions, formal verification, or coverage metrics.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix, version control (Git, GitLab, GitHub, SVN), and EDA tools (Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens EDA).
  • Basic knowledge of synthesis, static timing (SDC), DFT, lint, CDC/RDC, and low-power flows.
  • Experience automating tasks, analyzing logs, or writing debugging scripts.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Automation and Control Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
