ASICs Engineer - Senior to Staff
QualcommJob Title
ASICs Engineer - Senior to Staff
Role Summary
Design, optimize, verify, validate, and document ASIC IP (block/SoC) for high-performance, low-power products. Work on digital and/or analog blocks and collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, hardware, architecture) to implement system-level requirements.
Experience Level
Senior-level (Senior to Staff). Preferred experience: 3+ years in ASIC design, verification, validation, or integration. Minimum experience expectations depend on degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Principal responsibilities focus on architecture, design, verification, and delivery of ASIC/IP blocks across the flow from concept to implementation.
- Define architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and system simulations from system requirements.
- Design and optimize digital and/or analog IP for performance, power, and quality goals.
- Execute and evaluate flows from RTL through synthesis, place-and-route, timing and power analysis to signoff (or equivalent custom layout flow).
- Develop and apply verification and validation strategies for blocks/SoCs.
- Use EDA and implementation tools (e.g., RTL-to-GDS flows, Virtuoso) to progress design to tape-out.
- Produce detailed technical documentation for EDA/IP/ASIC projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure implementation meets system and customer requirements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience relevant to ASIC/IP development.
- Practical experience in ASIC design, verification, validation, or integration.
- Experience with architecture and design tools.
- Experience with scripting tools and programming languages for automation and verification.
- Familiarity with design verification methods and methodologies.
- Knowledge of the full implementation flow (synthesis, place-and-route, timing, power) or custom circuit design/layout flows.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications vary by degree: a Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant ASIC experience; OR a Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field with 1+ year of relevant ASIC experience; OR a PhD in Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: a Master’s in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
