ASIC Verification, Sr Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Senior staff engineer responsible for leading digital ASIC verification activities. The role is based in Dublin and sits within the ASIC Digital Design / Hardware Engineering organization.

Primary mission: define verification strategy, develop robust verification environments, drive closure of functional coverage and sign-off, and coordinate with design and validation teams to deliver high-quality silicon.

Experience Level

Senior - typically expected to have 7+ years of ASIC verification or related experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead verification planning and strategy for complex ASIC blocks or full-chip projects.
  • Design and implement verification environments using SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Create and execute directed and constrained-random tests and regression suites.
  • Develop coverage plans, track coverage closure, and drive sign-off activities.
  • Debug functional failures using simulation, waveform analysis, and log inspection.
  • Integrate verification with emulation/FPGA prototyping and silicon validation as needed.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to other verification engineers.
  • Collaborate with design, architecture, and firmware teams to resolve issues and improve quality.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred qualifications:

  • Must-have: Significant hands-on ASIC verification experience with SystemVerilog and UVM; experience using industry simulators and regressions (e.g., VCS, Questa, or similar).
  • Must-have: Strong debugging skills and experience with coverage-driven verification methodologies.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with scripting (Python, TCL, Perl or similar) to automate regressions and analysis.
  • Must-have: Experience leading verification efforts and collaborating across design teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with emulation/FPGA prototyping, formal verification, assertion-based verification (SVA), or familiarity with on-chip protocols (AXI, PCIe, etc.).
