ASIC Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for leading block- and subsystem-level verification for high-speed networking ASICs in the HPE Networking Silicon group. Work includes developing UVM-based verification environments, driving test plans to coverage closure, and collaborating with design and validation teams to deliver production-quality silicon.

Hybrid role based in Durham, NC (expected 2 days per week in office). US citizenship preferred.

Experience Level

Mid-level - requires approximately 4+ years of ASIC/SoC verification experience as indicated in the posting.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include end-to-end verification of blocks and subsystems within networking SoCs.

• Create and own block/subsystem verification plans and drive them to coverage closure.
• Develop, extend, and maintain UVM-based verification environments (agents, sequences, scoreboards, virtual sequences, register models).
• Implement constraint-driven random tests, functional coverage, and assertion-based checks (SVA).
• Run and analyze simulations using industry tools and debug waveforms to validate functionality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and resolve design and verification issues.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience.

• 4+ years of ASIC/SoC verification experience with ownership from test-plan to coverage closure.
• Strong SystemVerilog and UVM expertise, including building environments from scratch.
• Deep knowledge of randomization, constraints, functional coverage, and SVA assertions.
• Hands-on test planning, coverage analysis, and debug of complex SoC designs.
• Experience with industry simulators (Cadence Xcelium, Synopsys VCS, Mentor Questa) and waveform debugging.

Nice-to-have.

• Experience verifying networking ASIC datapath or control blocks (packet processing, forwarding engines, fabric interfaces).
• Familiarity with high-speed interconnects, buffers, scheduling pipelines, or large networking SoCs.
• Exposure to emulation, hardware acceleration, post-silicon bring-up, or traffic-model integration.
• Experience with coverage analytics, regression dashboards, CI flows (e.g., Jenkins), low-power (UPF), or formal verification.
