ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Senior technical contributor and verification lead for next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communications ASICs within the Acacia team at Cisco. The role focuses on creating and executing verification strategies, improving verification processes, and providing technical leadership to a cross-functional ASIC verification team.
This is a hybrid role with three days per week at Cisco’s Maynard, MA office.
Experience Level

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning, implementing, and leading ASIC verification efforts for complex optical communications designs.
- Lead development of detailed verification test plans and coverage goals.
- Design and build verification test benches and environments.
- Apply advanced verification techniques and methodologies to complex designs.
- Supervise and coordinate execution of test plans across the team.
- Review verification code, coverage metrics, and results to ensure design quality.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and hands-on guidance to teammates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate new test technologies and improve processes.
- Operate independently in a fast-paced environment to deliver verification solutions and support silicon bring-up.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tools for successful verification of high-speed ASICs.
- Proven experience with ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and verification infrastructure.
- Proficiency with SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Experience with SystemC.
- Strong C++ skills (including object-oriented design for verification).
- Familiarity with scripting/programming for verification automation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical collaboration and documentation.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience leading ASIC technical teams and in-house IP development.
- DSP algorithm knowledge and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM).
- Experience with C++ templates and advanced C++ usage.
- Lab silicon validation and bring-up experience.
- Experience with Formal Verification tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).
- Track record of process or tool innovation that produced measurable improvements.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications stated by Cisco: Bachelor's degree + 8 years related experience, Master's degree + 6 years related experience, PhD + 3 years related experience, or equivalent related work experience. (No specific field-of-study or certifications were specified in the posting.)
