ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Senior technical lead responsible for verification of next-generation 100Gβ1.6T coherent optical communications ASICs within Cisco's Acacia team. Work includes developing verification plans and testbenches, applying advanced verification techniques, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure silicon quality.

Senior β technical lead level. Typical experience guidance: Bachelor's +8 years, Master's +6 years, PhD +3 years, or equivalent related work experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for this role include planning, executing, and leading ASIC verification efforts.
- Lead development of detailed verification test plans and verification environments/testbenches.
- Apply advanced and object-oriented verification methodologies to complex ASIC designs.
- Define and review coverage metrics and verification coding; supervise execution of test plans.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive process and tool improvements.
- Collaborate with design, silicon validation, and cross-functional teams to integrate verification activities.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Preferred items listed separately.
- Proven experience with ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting/programming languages.
- Proficiency in SystemVerilog/UVM and SystemC.
- Strong C++ skills and experience with object-oriented verification techniques.
- Experience developing and maintaining verification testbenches and automated test flows.
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineers.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with in-house IP development and leading ASIC technical teams.
- DSP algorithm knowledge and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM); C++ templates experience.
- Lab silicon validation experience and familiarity with Formal Verification tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, or Master's plus 6 years, or PhD plus 3 years, or equivalent related work experience.
