Job Title

ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia

Role Summary

Work on verification of next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communication ASICs for Ciscos Acacia group. The role focuses on designing and executing verification plans, building verification environments, and providing technical leadership to ensure silicon quality.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week onsite at Ciscos Maynard, MA office; the role expects an experienced technical lead who can operate independently and mentor other engineers.

Experience Level

Senior β€” technical lead level. The role expects a senior engineer with significant hands-on ASIC verification experience (see Education Requirements for years-of-experience guidance).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning, implementing, and overseeing verification activities for complex ASIC designs.

  • Lead development of detailed verification test plans and verification strategies.
  • Design, implement, and maintain verification testbenches and environments.
  • Apply advanced verification techniques and methodologies to complex designs.
  • Supervise and coordinate execution of test plans across the verification team.
  • Review verification code, results, and coverage metrics; drive closure of verification goals.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor team members on verification methods and tooling.
  • Collaborate with design, firmware, and lab teams to integrate verification and silicon validation.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in the role.

  • Proven experience with object-oriented verification methodologies.
  • Strong experience with SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Experience with SystemC.
  • Proficiency in C++ and scripting/programming languages used for verification automation.
  • Experience with ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and building verification environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead verification projects, create test plans, and mentor engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM).
  • Experience with C++ templates and advanced C++ features.
  • Lab silicon validation experience and hands-on debug of silicon.
  • Experience leading ASIC technical teams and in-house IP development.
  • Familiarity with Formal Verification tools and methodologies (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).

Education Requirements

Degree and experience options stated by the employer: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, Masters degree plus 6 years related experience, PhD plus 3 years related experience, or equivalent related work experience. No specific academic field or certifications were specified.
