ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia

Role Summary

Senior technical contributor responsible for verification of next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communication ASICs within Cisco's Acacia business. The role focuses on developing verification strategies, building testbenches, leading verification projects, and mentoring engineers.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week at Cisco’s Maynard, MA office.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Lead verification activities for complex ASIC designs and provide technical leadership to the verification team.

• Lead and develop detailed and comprehensive verification test plans.
• Design, develop, and maintain verification test benches and environments.
• Apply advanced and object-oriented verification methodologies to complex designs.
• Oversee and coordinate execution of test plans across the team.
• Review verification code, results, and coverage metrics and drive closure of verification gaps.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to teammates.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to adopt new verification tools, processes, and lab validation techniques.
• Operate independently to create verification solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred for successful performance in this role.

• Must-have: Strong experience with modern ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting/programming languages.
• Must-have: Proficiency in SystemVerilog/UVM and SystemC.
• Must-have: Experience with C++ and object-oriented verification methodologies.
• Must-have: Proven ability to develop test plans and verification environments for complex digital designs.
• Nice-to-have: Experience leading ASIC technical teams or large verification projects.
• Nice-to-have: DSP algorithm knowledge and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM).
• Nice-to-have: Experience with C++ templates and in-house IP development.
• Nice-to-have: Lab silicon validation and formal verification experience (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).

Education Requirements

Degree/experience equivalency specified: Bachelor's degree + 8 years related experience, Master’s + 6 years, PhD + 3 years, or equivalent related work experience. No specific fields of study were mandated in the posting.
