ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia
Role Summary
Work on verification of next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communication ASICs within the Acacia team. The position is a technical lead role focused on planning and executing verification for complex ASIC designs and improving team processes and methodologies.
This is a hybrid role with an in-office cadence at Cisco’s Maynard, MA location.
Experience Level
Senior-level engineer; typically 7+ years of relevant ASIC verification experience.
Responsibilities
The role combines hands-on verification engineering with technical leadership and mentoring.
- Define and lead detailed verification test plans and strategies for complex ASICs.
- Design, develop, and maintain verification test benches and infrastructure.
- Apply advanced verification techniques and object-oriented verification methodologies.
- Oversee execution of test plans and track coverage and verification progress.
- Review verification code and coverage metrics; drive improvements to quality and process.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new verification tools and processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and core experience required for the role; preferred items listed separately.

Must-have: Experience with ASIC verification methodologies, verification tools, and scripting/programming languages.

Must-have: Proficiency in C++.

Must-have: Experience with SystemVerilog/UVM and SystemC.

Must-have: Familiarity with object-oriented verification methodologies and advanced verification techniques.

Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication; ability to lead technical projects.

Nice-to-have: Experience with in-house IP development, DSP algorithms and modulation (e.g. QAM), and C++ templates.

Nice-to-have: Lab silicon validation experience and experience with Formal Verification tools (e.g. Jasper, VCFormal).

Nice-to-have: Prior experience leading ASIC technical teams and driving measurable process improvements.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years related experience, or Master’s plus 6 years, or PhD plus 3 years, or equivalent related work experience.
