Job Title

ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia

Role Summary

Senior technical contributor on the Acacia ASIC verification team developing next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communications products. The role focuses on planning and executing verification for complex ASICs, creating verification solutions, improving team processes, and mentoring engineers.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week on-site at Cisco’s Maynard, MA office.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical experience guidance from the posting: Bachelor's + 8 years, Master's + 6 years, PhD + 3 years, or equivalent related work experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of ASIC verification efforts and hands-on development of verification infrastructure and tests.

  • Lead and develop detailed, comprehensive verification test plans.
  • Design and develop verification test benches and environments.
  • Apply advanced and innovative verification techniques to complex ASIC designs.
  • Supervise and coordinate execution of test plans across the team.
  • Review verification code, functional coverage, and metrics; ensure design quality.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and process improvements for the verification team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate the latest test technologies and lab validation practices.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Preferred items listed separately.

  • Proven experience with ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting/programming languages.
  • Experience with object-oriented verification methodologies.
  • Strong C++ experience.
  • Experience with SystemVerilog/UVM and SystemC.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-team collaboration and reporting.

Nice-to-have:

  • Track record of innovation that produced measurable improvements.
  • Experience developing in-house IP and leading ASIC technical teams.
  • Familiarity with DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM).
  • Experience with C++ templates.
  • Lab silicon validation experience.
  • Formal verification experience and tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).
