Job Title

ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia

Role Summary

Technical lead role within Cisco's Acacia team, responsible for verification of complex ASICs used in next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communications products. The role focuses on developing verification plans and environments, applying advanced verification techniques, and providing technical leadership and mentoring.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week at Cisco’s Maynard, MA office.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Technical Lead). Typical total experience: 8+ years of relevant ASIC verification or related engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Lead verification efforts and provide technical direction for ASIC projects.

  • Lead and develop detailed and comprehensive verification test plans.
  • Design and develop verification test benches and environments.
  • Apply advanced and innovative verification techniques to complex designs.
  • Supervise and coordinate timely execution of test plans by the team.
  • Review verification code, functional coverage, and coverage metrics.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate new test technologies and processes.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Preferred items listed separately.

  • Proven experience with modern ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and verification scripting/programming.
  • Proficient in C++.
  • Proficient in SystemVerilog and UVM; experience with SystemC.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented verification methodologies.
  • Ability to develop comprehensive test plans and verification environments and to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience leading ASIC technical teams and in-house IP development.
  • Experience with DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM).
  • Experience with C++ templates.
  • Lab silicon validation experience.
  • Experience with formal verification methodologies and tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).
  • Track record of innovation that led to measurable improvements.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree with 8 years related experience, or Master's degree with 6 years related experience, or PhD with 3 years related experience — or equivalent related work experience. Degrees are typically in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or related technical fields; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.

Compensation

For U.S. and Canada locations the starting salary range is listed as $148,800.00 to $212,900.00 (base salary range for new hires; actual pay depends on location, experience, and other factors).
