ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia
Role Summary
Senior verification engineer and technical lead on next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical ASICs within the Acacia team. Responsible for verification strategy, developing verification environments and test plans, driving verification quality, and mentoring engineers across cross-functional teams.
This position is hybrid and requires three days per week onsite at Cisco’s Maynard, MA office.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role expects substantial ASIC verification experience and the ability to lead technical projects and teams.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include ownership of verification strategy, delivery, and team technical leadership.
- Lead and develop detailed, comprehensive verification test plans.
- Design and implement verification test benches and environments.
- Apply advanced verification techniques to complex designs.
- Supervise and coordinate execution of test plans across the team.
- Review verification code and coverage metrics; drive quality improvements.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor teammates on methods and tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to adopt new test technologies and processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and abilities follow; preferred items are listed separately.
- Proven experience with ASIC verification methodologies, tools, and scripting/programming languages.
- Practical experience with SystemVerilog/UVM and SystemC.
- Proficiency in C++ and experience applying object-oriented verification methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to create verification solutions independently.
- Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with technical leaders and stakeholders.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience leading ASIC technical teams and in-house IP development.
- Familiarity with DSP algorithms and modulation techniques (e.g., QAM).
- Experience with C++ templates.
- Lab silicon validation experience.
- Experience with formal verification tools (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).
- Track record of process or tool innovations that delivered measurable improvements.
Education Requirements
Degree guidance provided in the posting: Bachelor's + 8 years related experience, Master's + 6 years related experience, PhD + 3 years related experience, or equivalent related work experience.
