ASIC Verification Engineer - Acacia
Role Summary
Senior verification engineer and technical lead for next-generation 100G–1.6T coherent optical communication ASICs within Cisco's Acacia team. The role focuses on planning and executing complex verification projects, developing verification infrastructure, and mentoring engineers on advanced verification techniques.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 8+ years of relevant ASIC verification experience (see Education Requirements for degree/experience combinations).
Responsibilities
Lead verification activities for complex ASIC designs and drive improvements in verification processes and tools.
- Define and lead detailed verification test plans and strategies.
- Design, develop, and maintain verification testbenches (SystemVerilog/UVM, SystemC where applicable).
- Apply advanced and innovative verification techniques to uncover design issues early.
- Oversee execution of test plans and review verification code and coverage metrics.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor team members on verification methods and tools.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate new test technologies and processes.
- Participate in silicon bring-up and lab validation activities.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Strong experience with ASIC verification methodologies and tools.
- Proficient in SystemVerilog and UVM; experience with SystemC.
- Proficient in C++ and scripting/programming for verification automation.
- Experience with object-oriented verification methodologies.
- Proven ability to lead technical verification projects and mentor engineers.
- Experience with lab silicon validation and debugging.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with formal verification tools and methodologies (e.g., Jasper, VCFormal).
- Experience developing in-house IP and working with DSP algorithms and modulation schemes (QAM).
- Advanced C++ techniques (templates) and System-level verification experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of related experience, Master’s plus 6 years, PhD plus 3 years, or equivalent related work experience. The posting explicitly allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of the degrees listed.
