Job Title
ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and execute verification strategies for ASIC/VLSI designs as part of HPE's electronic and VLSI engineering team. The role focuses on building testbenches, running simulations, debugging RTL and silicon issues, and coordinating verification activities across design, validation, and development partners.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 3+ years of VLSI/ASIC verification experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include planning and performing verification for complex VLSI designs and communicating results to stakeholders.
- Design and implement verification environments, testbenches, and directed/random stimulus using SystemVerilog/UVM.
- Create and maintain assertions, functional coverage, and verification plans; analyze coverage gaps.
- Run simulations, debug RTL and integration issues, and track defect resolution through silicon bring-up and prototype testing.
- Collaborate with architects, RTL designers, FPGA and validation teams to integrate verification flows and resolve issues.
- Report design and verification status, risks, and mitigation plans to project management.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and external development partners.
- Develop scripts and automation to improve verification productivity and regression management.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 3+ years of experience in VLSI/ASIC verification using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Proven experience verifying and debugging VLSI components, RTL, and architectures.
- Strong knowledge of digital logic, computer architecture, and VLSI principles.
- Experience with programming and scripting for verification flows and with EDA/FPGA tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience collaborating across teams and representing verification activities in project reviews.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with silicon bring-up and prototype validation.
- Experience mentoring less-experienced engineers on verification best practices.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field — or equivalent practical experience. Coursework or exposure to VLSI design and VLSI concepts is noted.
