Job Title
ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Work on verification of complex VLSI/ASIC components as part of a cross-functional electronic and VLSI engineering team. The role focuses on developing verification environments, validating logic and architecture, debugging designs, and coordinating with internal and outsourced development partners. The position is hybrid, with an expectation of roughly two days per week in an HPE office (Durham, NC).
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 3+ years of experience in VLSI/ASIC verification.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include providing technical verification expertise across VLSI development projects, coordinating with partners, and supporting quality delivery of prototypes and products.
- Design and execute verification plans for ASIC/VLSI components using industry-standard methodologies.
- Develop, maintain, and run verification environments and testbenches (SystemVerilog/UVM).
- Verify and debug integrated circuits, architectures, and algorithms at component and system levels.
- Collaborate with design, validation, and test teams, including outsourced partners, to track status and resolve issues.
- Represent the verification team during phases of larger VLSI projects and contribute to architecture and implementation reviews.
- Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items are listed separately.
Must-have:
- 3+ years of VLSI verification experience using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Strong knowledge of digital logic, VLSI principles, and computer architecture.
- Proven experience verifying and debugging ASIC/VLSI components and integrated circuits.
- Experience with programming and scripting, hardware description languages, and EDA or FPGA tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience contributing to architecture-level verification or acting as a project technical lead.
- Prior experience working with outsourced development partners on VLSI projects.
- Coursework or hands-on experience in VLSI design concepts.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field β or equivalent practical experience. Coursework or experience in VLSI concepts is relevant.
