Job Title

ASIC Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Hybrid role (expected 2 days/week on-site) based in Durham, NC. Join the HPE Networking Silicon verification team to own block- and subsystem-level functional verification for high-speed networking ASICs and SoCs.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires 3+ years of ASIC/SoC verification experience.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute verification activities from planning through coverage closure. Work closely with design and cross-functional teams to deliver validated silicon.

  • Create and drive block/subsystem verification plans and achieve coverage targets.
  • Design, develop, and maintain UVM/SystemVerilog verification environments (agents, sequences, scoreboards, register models, virtual sequences).
  • Implement constraint-driven random tests, functional coverage, and SVA assertions.
  • Run simulations with industry simulators and analyze waveforms and logs to debug complex SoC behavior.
  • Collaborate with designers and other stakeholders to identify, debug, and close functional issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience required to perform the role.

  • 3+ years of ASIC/SoC verification experience owning verification from test plan to coverage closure.
  • Strong SystemVerilog expertise and extensive experience with UVM methodology.
  • Deep knowledge of randomization, constraints, functional coverage, and assertions (SVA).
  • Experience with test planning, coverage analysis, and debugging of complex SoC designs.
  • Hands-on experience with industry-standard simulators (Cadence Xcelium, Synopsys VCS, Mentor Questa) and waveform debugging.

Nice-to-have:

  • Verification experience on networking ASICs (packet processing, forwarding engines, fabric interfaces).
  • Familiarity with high-speed interconnects, buffers, scheduling pipelines, emulation/hardware acceleration, post-silicon bring-up, or traffic-model integration.
  • Knowledge of coverage analytics, CI/regression dashboards (e.g., Jenkins), UPF low-power flows, or formal verification.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
