ASIC Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Work on verification of high-performance physical-layer ASICs in the High Speed Interconnect Product (HSIP) group, supporting products from specification through production. Collaborate with architecture, firmware, physical design and layout teams to ensure silicon meets protocol and performance requirements.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience expectation: approximately 3–5 years of relevant verification or design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include block- and chip-level verification, verification environment development, and test automation.

• Develop SystemVerilog UVM verification environments and testbench components.
• Execute block-level and chip-level verification plans and debug failures.
• Validate IEEE Ethernet protocols and related high-speed interconnect behaviors.
• Understand chip architecture, microarchitecture and design specifications to create targeted tests.
• Build scripts and tools to improve verification efficiency and quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architecture, firmware, physical/layout, marketing) throughout product development.

Requirements

Core technical skills and attributes required or strongly preferred.

• Must-have: Verification or logic/design experience in ASIC projects.
• Must-have: Proficiency with HDLs such as Verilog or SystemVerilog; VHDL experience acceptable.
• Must-have: Experience with verification methodologies and testbench development (UVM preferred).
• Nice-to-have: Proficiency in C/C++ and familiarity with object-oriented programming.
• Nice-to-have: Scripting experience (Python, Perl, Tcl) for automation and infrastructure work.
• Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with test automation, debug environments and tooling.
• Personal: Self-motivated, clear communicator, quick learner and effective team collaborator.

Education Requirements

Degree and experience combinations specified: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related technical field) typically with ~5+ years related experience; Master’s degree in Engineering with ~3+ years related experience; PhD in Engineering may qualify with no industry experience. Coursework or background in logic design, electronic circuit design, computer/communication engineering, or equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
