ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead verification activities for ASIC/VLSI projects within HPE’s hardware engineering organization. The role focuses on verification strategy, testbench and simulation development, architecture reviews, and coordination with design and validation teams to deliver production-quality silicon.
Experience Level
Mid-level (target experience range 6–10 years). The role requires significant practical VLSI verification experience and the ability to lead technical project work and mentor others.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading verification efforts and ensuring design quality across the VLSI development lifecycle.
- Lead verification strategy and execution for ASIC/VLSI designs, including planning and resource coordination.
- Develop and review verification plans, testbenches, and simulation environments (UVM-based methodologies).
- Collaborate with architecture and design teams to ensure design-for-testability and adherence to standards.
- Analyze simulation and test results, debug failures, and recommend design fixes or verification improvements.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to less experienced engineers and external development partners.
- Drive process improvements and integration of new verification technologies and tools.
Requirements
Core technical skills and practical experience required.
- Proven experience in ASIC/VLSI verification and RTL debug.
- Proficiency with Verilog/SystemVerilog and UVM verification methodology.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
- Experience with C or C++ for verification or tooling tasks.
- Familiarity with EDA tools and FPGA tool flows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to diagnose complex system-level and RTL issues.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and cross-team coordination.
- Specman knowledge is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience. The posting also references an expected practical experience range of approximately 6–10 years in VLSI design, verification, or implementation.
