ASIC Validation Engineer, Power Validation & Characterization
Role Summary
Validate and characterize power-related features for data-center ASICs across pre-silicon and post-silicon stages. The team performs first-silicon bring-up, PVT characterization, and builds lab automation and reusable test frameworks to scale validation across devices and systems.
Experience Level
Entry-level - requires 2+ years of relevant industry experience in ASIC validation, hardware bring-up, or a related silicon engineering discipline.
Responsibilities
Execute validation and characterization tasks, maintain test automation, and keep lab environments operational.
- Execute PVT validation and characterization test plans on emulation platforms and silicon in the lab.
- Bring up boards and systems; set up test environments and instrumentation.
- Develop and maintain Python test scripts, automation, and analysis tooling; contribute to shared validation frameworks.
- Triage and debug failures to determine whether issues stem from silicon, firmware, driver, board, or test setup.
- Probe signals using schematics and platform documentation and interpret measurement results.
- Produce clean, reproducible characterization data and summaries for design, firmware, and manufacturing partners.
- Support lab infrastructure: bench/rack/power setup, instrument calibration, and keeping test environments running.
Requirements
Essential skills and experience.
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience in ASIC validation, hardware bring-up, or related silicon engineering.
- Hands-on lab experience with hardware bring-up, debug, and measurement.
- Experience with test and measurement instrumentation in a lab environment.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and platform documentation.
- Proficiency in Python for test development, automation, and analysis.
- Experience with pre-silicon (emulation/FPGA) or post-silicon validation.
- Strong hands-on debugging skills to isolate failure sources.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field is required and must be completed prior to joining; equivalent practical experience is acceptable. Preferred: MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
