Job Title

ASIC RTL Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join Ericsson Silicon's ASIC IP organization to design and verify production-quality RTL blocks used in 5G infrastructure ASICs. The role spans RTL design, simulation, integration, and PPA optimization across the design flow.

You will collaborate with backend, verification, and integration teams to take features from specification to silicon on advanced process nodes.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” several years of hands-on industry RTL design experience at block and/or top level.

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Write, review, and verify clean, production-quality RTL (SystemVerilog/Verilog/VHDL).
  • Implement designs from specification through synthesis and handoff to backend for silicon.
  • Perform simulation, debug, and PPA (power, performance, area) optimization on advanced nodes.
  • Work with EDA tools for linting, CDC analysis, static timing, and verification.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for 3rd-party IP integration and closure on timing and area.
  • Use scripting (TCL, Python) and software tools to automate flows and debug flows.

Requirements

Must-have and helpful technical qualifications:

  • Must-have: Several years of industry RTL design experience at block and/or top level.
  • Must-have: Proficient in SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL; strong foundation in digital logic design.
  • Must-have: Deep understanding of clock domain crossing (CDC) and static timing analysis (STA).
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with RTL linting and CDC tools (e.g., Synopsys SpyGlass or equivalents).
  • Must-have: Strong command of C/C++, TCL, and/or Python; comfortable in Git and Linux environments.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with AMBA interfaces (APB, AXI, ACE-Lite, CHI) or IP like SerDes, PCIe, ARM subsystems, DSPs, accelerators, or Ethernet.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with EDA toolchains from Cadence, Mentor, or Synopsys; background in computer architecture or VLSI systems.

Education Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
