ASIC RTL Design Engineer (Automotive IP/Cores) (Sr. Engr / Sr. Lead Engr)
QualcommJob Title
ASIC RTL Design Engineer (Automotive IP/Cores) β Senior / Sr. Lead
Role Summary
Position on the system power management IP cores and subsystem design team targeting Snapdragon SoCs across mobile, compute, IoT and automotive products.
Work includes micro-architecture and RTL implementation of IP/subsystems and cross-functional integration with systems, verification, SoC, software, power and DFT teams.
Experience Level
Senior β preferred 3β8 years of ASIC RTL design experience; minimum experience requirements vary by degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for the RTL/subsystem design role.
- Define micro-architecture and implement RTL for IP cores and subsystems.
- Coordinate with Systems, Verification, SoC, Software, Power (PD) and DFT teams for design convergence and handoff.
- Enable software teams to use and integrate hardware blocks.
- Perform static checks and qualify designs using lint, CDC, CLP and related tools.
- Run synthesis, logical equivalence checks (LEC) and netlist CLP; resolve tool issues.
- Report status and communicate progress to engineering management and stakeholders.
Requirements
Required technical skills and desirable additions. Must-haves are listed first.
- Must-have: Strong RTL coding experience in Verilog/SystemVerilog for complex designs with multiple clock and power domains.
- Must-have: Experience with UPF and power-domain crossing, low-power design methodology, and clock-domain crossing techniques.
- Must-have: Experience in synthesis, logical equivalence checking (LEC), RTL and netlist CLP.
- Must-have: Familiarity with bus protocols such as AHB, AXI, SPMI, I2C, SPI.
- Must-have: Experience with SpyGlass lint/CDC checks and creating waivers; familiarity with formal verification tools (e.g., Cadence LEC).
- Must-have: Scripting/programming skills in Perl, Tcl and/or Python for design automation.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with database/configuration management flows (ClearCase/ClearQuest) and post-silicon debug.
- Interpersonal: Clear oral and written communication, team player, self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related engineering field with 3+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience; OR Master's degree in the above fields with 2+ years' experience; OR PhD in the above fields with 1+ year of experience. (Degree and years are explicitly listed as minimum qualifications.)
