Job Title

ASIC RTL Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join Ericsson Silicon's ASIC IP organization to design and deliver production RTL for ASICs used in 5G network infrastructure. The role is engineering-focused and spans RTL design, verification, integration, and PPA optimization.

Position follows a hybrid work schedule based in Austin, TX and requires on-site collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” several years of hands-on industry RTL design experience (typically 3+ years).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include delivering production-quality RTL and working with verification, synthesis, and backend teams to bring designs to silicon.

  • Write, review, and verify clean, production-grade RTL (SystemVerilog/Verilog/VHDL).
  • Translate specifications into RTL and follow designs through to silicon implementation.
  • Analyze and optimize circuits for area, power, and timing on advanced process nodes.
  • Use EDA tools for simulation, linting, CDC analysis, and timing verification.
  • Collaborate with backend, verification, and product teams to close on synthesis, area, and timing.
  • Debug complex RTL/ASIC issues and support integration of 3rd-party IP.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Several years of hands-on industry RTL design experience at block and/or top level.
  • Strong foundation in digital logic design and static timing analysis (STA).
  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
  • Strong command of C/C++, TCL, and/or Python for scripting and tooling.
  • Deep understanding of clock domain crossing (CDC) issues and solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with RTL linting and CDC tools (for example Synopsys SpyGlass or equivalent).

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with AMBA interfaces (APB, AXI, ACE-Lite, CHI).
  • Background in computer architecture, VLSI systems, SerDes, PCIe, ARM subsystems, DSPs, accelerators, or Ethernet/IP design.
  • Familiarity with EDA toolchains from Cadence, Mentor (Siemens EDA), or Synopsys.
  • Comfortable working in Git and Linux environments.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering specified.
