Job Title
ASIC Physical Design Engineer, Netlisting (New College Grad 2026)
Role Summary
Join an ASIC physical design team responsible for netlist-related validation and optimization for high-frequency, low-power CPUs, GPUs and SoCs. The role focuses on netlist quality, equivalence checking, CDC/MTBF analysis, logic synthesis, ECO implementation, and related flow development.
Experience Level
Entry-level (new college graduate). Years of prior industry experience not required; the role targets new graduates.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include netlist-focused physical design activities at block, cluster, or full-chip level and supporting ECO implementation.
- Drive netlist-related physical design: equivalence checking, asynchronous checks (clock-domain crossing), MTBF analysis, logic synthesis, and netlist quality checks.
- Generate and implement ECOs to address timing, functionality, or integration issues.
- Collaborate with RTL, verification, and back-end teams to resolve netlist and timing issues through root-cause analysis.
- Develop and maintain flows, scripts, and automation to improve netlist verification and implementation efficiency.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Practical experience with logic equivalence checking / formal verification from RTL to tapeout using industry-standard tools.
- Understanding of hardware architecture and hands-on RTL/logic design knowledge relevant to timing closure.
- Experience with clock-domain-crossing checking and MTBF analysis using EDA or in-house tools.
- Background in logic synthesis at block or full-chip level, including project execution or flow development.
- Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools related to synthesis, equivalence checking, and physical verification.
- Experience with programming/scripting languages such as Perl, TCL, Make, Python, or similar for automation.
Nice-to-have:
- Proven debugging and problem-solving skills for complex netlist and timing issues.
- Experience improving workflows and productivity through AI or automation techniques.
Education Requirements
Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is specified; equivalent practical experience is acceptable. No specific certifications are required.
