Job Title

ASIC Physical Design Engineer II - Space-Grade SoCs

Role Summary

Engineer responsible for physical implementation of space-grade ASICs and SoCs used in space and ground systems. Work includes partitioning, synthesis handoff, physical design methodology development, and cross-functional coordination with RTL, verification, timing, and system teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The role expects approximately 3+ years of relevant physical design experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver physical design implementation and collaborate across design disciplines to meet area, power, and timing targets.

  • Partition and prepare designs for synthesis and place-and-route flows.
  • Develop and apply physical design methodologies and implementation scripts.
  • Work toward timing closure, power planning, and floorplan/layout tasks in collaboration with timing and power teams.
  • Coordinate with RTL, verification, and back-end teams to ensure design handoffs and signoff readiness.
  • Support design reviews and provide implementation status, risk, and mitigation plans.

Requirements

Core qualifications and practical skills required for the role.

  • Must have 3+ years of hands-on ASIC physical design experience.
  • Proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and communicate trade-offs and risks.
  • Experience with physical implementation flows, timing closure processes, and power-aware design practices.
  • Familiarity with common EDA signoff concepts and ability to follow established verification/signoff procedures.
  • Nice-to-have: prior work on space-grade or safety-critical ASICs, familiarity with radiation-hardened design practices.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field) is expected. Equivalent practical experience in ASIC physical design may be acceptable.
