Job Title

ASIC Physical Design Engineer

Role Summary

Work within Broadcom's ASIC design team in Shanghai on CMOS cell-based ASICs through implementation phases. Responsible for synthesis, timing verification, physical implementation and tapeout support for advanced process nodes.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver silicon-ready designs and support post-prototype validation.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The role expects independent handling of block and top-level implementation tasks; no explicit years of experience provided.

Responsibilities

Contribute across RTL-to-GDS flows and physical design tasks, including:

• Full-chip synthesis and static timing analysis (DC flows, constraint cleanup) for advanced nodes (example: 16nm/7nm).
• Physical design implementation: floorplanning, placement, design closure, and managing DRC/LVS issues.
• RTL analysis, synthesis, design optimization, timing verification and simulation.
• DFT/test insertion, vector generation and post-prototype test support.
• Tapeout preparation and execution for 28nm and below process designs.
• Work independently on block implementation and top-level integration and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• Solid VLSI background with clear understanding of ASIC design flow.
• Ability to handle block implementation and top-level tasks independently.
• Tapeout experience at 28nm node and below.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in scripting with Perl and Tcl.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience running full-chip STA and constraint cleanup on 16nm/7nm designs.
• DFT insertion, power/IR analysis, and additional DRC/LVS experience.

Education Requirements

Master's degree (MS) preferred in Microelectronics or a related discipline.
