Job Title
ASIC Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Ultra Low Latency team to design, test and deploy advanced ASIC hardware for trading, networking and research infrastructure. Lead physical design tasks while collaborating across front-end and system teams.
This is a small, cross-functional team role: you will own physical design flows end-to-end and contribute to RTL and tooling work to improve productivity and reliability.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 8+ years of hands-on ASIC physical design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include owning PD flows and collaborating across engineering and research teams.
- Develop and run end-to-end physical design flows (floorplanning, place & route, timing closure, physical verification, power analysis).
- Collaborate with trading, networking and infrastructure teams to deliver production silicon.
- Read and write RTL; evaluate front-end design trade-offs that impact physical implementation.
- Drive timing closure and physical signoff activities.
- Apply software engineering practices to automate and improve PD tooling and flows.
- Contribute to design reviews and cross-domain decision-making across the chip stack.
Requirements
Must-have skills and qualifications:
- 8+ years hands-on experience building and running modern physical design flows.
- Broad PD experience sufficient to own a flow end-to-end and identify key risks.
- Ability to read and write RTL and reason about front-end/back-end interactions.
- Experience programming in a high-level language (Python, C++, Haskell, etc.) and applying software engineering techniques to hardware design.
- Fluent in English.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience working on small teams or across the full chip stack.
- Interest or experience in developing or adopting new hardware tooling (for example, Hardcaml/OCaml).
Education Requirements
Not specified.
