ASIC/FPGA Verification Engineer IV

Role Summary

Work on ASIC and FPGA verification for a space-avionics product within Lockheed Martin Space's Silicon Solutions team. The role focuses on verification planning, simulation, and lab test of radiation-tolerant, low-SWaP devices in an engineering development environment.

Work is performed on-site at a Lockheed Martin Space facility and with supplier teams; the position requires coordination with independent verification teams and participation in technical reviews.

Senior β€” requires professional verification experience; the posting specifies 5+ years of FPGA verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include full-lifecycle verification of ASICs and FPGAs and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Develop and execute verification plans from requirements through simulation and test.
  • Use SystemVerilog and UVM to implement verification environments and testbenches.
  • Perform simulations and analysis in a Linux-based high-performance computing environment.
  • Document verification plans, test cases, and results; present findings at technical reviews.
  • Work with independent verification teams to coordinate verification activities and resolve design issues.
  • Conduct lab testing and debug hardware (board-level and device-level) as needed.
  • Verify designs intended for low-SWaP, radiation-hardened, space-rated devices.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, security requirement, and practical experience; separate from listed education (see Education Requirements).

  • Expertise in UVM and modern verification methodologies (UVM/OVM/VMM).
  • Strong SystemVerilog and VHDL experience; familiarity with Verilog is acceptable.
  • Proven experience verifying FPGA and/or ASIC devices; simulation and lab verification skills.
  • Experience working in Linux-based HPC verification environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret clearance (required).
  • Independent, organized engineer able to operate in laboratory digital environments and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of space-grade/qualified FPGAs and radiation-tolerant design.
  • Scripting skills (Python or similar), experience with AMD Versal, Microchip RTG4 FPGAs.
  • Familiarity with MS Project, JIRA, and supplier coordination.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent combined education and practical experience.
