Job Title
ASIC/FPGA Verification Engineer III
Role Summary
Work on verification of complex ASIC and FPGA designs for avionics, space, and defense products as part of a Silicon Solutions team. The role focuses on creating and executing verification plans, developing testbenches and simulations, and collaborating with design and system teams to deliver robust digital hardware.
Onsite role supporting integrated product development; position follows a 9x80 schedule (every other Friday off).
Experience Level
Mid-level (Engineer III). Exact years of experience not specified; expects several years of professional ASIC/FPGA verification experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include verifying digital hardware designs, tracking verification progress, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
- Develop and execute ASIC/FPGA verification plans, testbenches, and simulations to validate design correctness and requirements compliance.
- Define verification strategies, environments, and coverage goals in collaboration with independent verification and design teams.
- Implement and maintain constrained-random and directed tests, checkers, scoreboards, and coverage models.
- Analyze simulation results, debug failures, and drive resolution of design and verification issues.
- Track and report verification status, coverage metrics, and risk assessments to project leadership.
- Collaborate with systems, design, implementation, and test teams to ensure end-to-end hardware quality.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Professional experience in ASIC or FPGA verification (required).
- Proficient with HDL languages (VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog) (required).
- Experience developing and running simulations in a Linux-based environment (required).
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in complex digital hardware environments (required).
- Experience with constrained-random test development, checkers, scoreboards, and coverage models (required).
- Must be able to work as part of an independent verification team alongside separate design and implementation teams (required).
- Nice-to-have: experience with modern verification methodologies (e.g., UVM) and coverage-driven verification.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with space- or defense-grade ASIC/FPGA devices and associated tool flows.
- Nice-to-have: scripting experience for automation (Python, Perl, Tcl, or similar).
- Nice-to-have: experience working across geographically distributed teams and strong verbal/written communication skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
