Job Title

ASIC/FPGA Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Idaho Scientific group at General Dynamics Mission Systems to design and deploy secure system solutions for mission-critical products. The role focuses on FPGA design, simulation, verification, and documentation across the ASIC/FPGA development lifecycle.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early career - minimum 2 years of relevant ASIC/FPGA engineering experience expected.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include development, verification, and documentation of FPGA/ASIC designs and supporting the full FPGA development flow.

  • Create test and simulation plans that establish functional criteria.
  • Define module interfaces and contribute to device design and simulation activities.
  • Contribute to system architecture, system simulation, and detailed design approaches for assigned work.
  • Support FPGA development flow: high-level design, synthesis, place-and-route, timing, and power/resource analysis.
  • Verify test results, analyze performance, and document designs and results.
  • Develop engineering artifacts using established standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the ASIC/FPGA lifecycle.
  • Work independently and with cross-functional teams to complete assigned tasks.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, security, and eligibility requirements.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant ASIC/FPGA engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of ASIC/FPGA engineering processes and design tools, including simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, timing analysis, and power/resource optimization.
  • Ability to develop and execute test and simulation plans, verify results, and analyze performance data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to learn quickly, multitask, and solve technical problems creatively.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with applying AI techniques to improve design and verification workflows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree plus 6 months of relevant experience.
