ASIC & FPGA Design Engineer, Senior (E3)
Lockheed MartinJob Title
ASIC & FPGA Design Engineer, Senior (E3)
Role Summary
Join Lockheed Martin's Missiles and Fire Control organization to deliver full‑custom analog and mixed‑signal IC physical implementation. The role focuses on layout flow from floorplan through tape out, optimizing performance, matching, signal integrity, and manufacturability across multiple foundries.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 8+ years of relevant experience in full‑custom analog or mixed‑signal IC layout design.
Responsibilities
Accountable for end-to-end layout and tape out activities and for mentoring junior engineers.
- Own layout flow from floorplan through tape out.
- Collaborate with circuit designers to produce parasitic‑aware, high‑performance physical designs.
- Work in a dual tool environment (Synopsys Custom Compiler and Cadence Virtuoso).
- Drive physical verification closure (DRC, LVS, ERC) across multiple foundries.
- Create and optimize floorplans for area, matching, signal integrity, and power delivery.
- Perform EMIR analysis and mitigate IR drop and electromigration concerns.
- Develop and maintain layout methodology and automation scripts.
- Prepare tape out sign‑off packages, documentation, and design rule decks.
- Mentor junior layout engineers and promote knowledge sharing.
Requirements
Key technical requirements and desirable skills.
- Must-have: 8+ years of full‑custom analog or mixed‑signal IC layout design experience.
- Experience with process nodes from 130nm to 12nm, including BCD technologies.
- Proficiency in Synopsys Custom Compiler and Cadence Virtuoso layout environments.
- Experience achieving physical verification closure across multiple foundry processes.
- Ability to obtain U.S. security clearance.
- Nice-to-have: EMIR analysis and mitigation experience; scripting/layout automation (SKILL, Tcl, Python, Perl); layout experience with precision analog blocks such as PLLs, ADC/DACs, LDOs, and amplifiers.
Education Requirements
Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Microelectronics, or a related technical field. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred.
