Job Title

ASIC Floorplan Design Engineer (New College Grad 2026)

Role Summary

Design and implement ASIC floorplans for GPUs and SoCs, collaborating with architects, physical-design leads and package teams to optimize area, performance, and routability during early chip development.

Opportunity to contribute to next-generation GPU and SoC platforms used in AI, autonomous driving, and high-performance computing.

Experience Level

Entry-level / New college graduate.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop and optimize floorplans during early-stage chip development in coordination with architects, design leads, physical-design leads, and package leads.
  • Drive area review processes and identify opportunities to improve area, interconnect and floorplan efficiency.
  • Analyze and resolve timing and routing congestion by influencing early architecture and physical-implementation decisions.
  • Build and enhance tools and infrastructure to improve chip area optimization and execution speed.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Strong hardware engineering background with emphasis on VLSI and/or computer architecture.
  • Experience with Verilog, SystemVerilog, or similar hardware description languages.
  • Familiarity with CAD and physical-design methodologies: floorplanning, power/clock distribution, packaging, place-and-route, and timing closure.
  • Programming experience in Python, Perl, and/or C/C++.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience driving development of large-scale ASIC floorplans.
