ASIC Floorplan Design Engineer (New College Grad 2026)
NVIDIAJob Title
ASIC Floorplan Design Engineer (New College Grad 2026)
Role Summary
Design and implement ASIC floorplans for GPUs and SoCs, collaborating with architects, physical-design leads and package teams to optimize area, performance, and routability during early chip development.
Opportunity to contribute to next-generation GPU and SoC platforms used in AI, autonomous driving, and high-performance computing.
Experience Level
Entry-level / New college graduate.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and optimize floorplans during early-stage chip development in coordination with architects, design leads, physical-design leads, and package leads.
- Drive area review processes and identify opportunities to improve area, interconnect and floorplan efficiency.
- Analyze and resolve timing and routing congestion by influencing early architecture and physical-implementation decisions.
- Build and enhance tools and infrastructure to improve chip area optimization and execution speed.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Strong hardware engineering background with emphasis on VLSI and/or computer architecture.
- Experience with Verilog, SystemVerilog, or similar hardware description languages.
- Familiarity with CAD and physical-design methodologies: floorplanning, power/clock distribution, packaging, place-and-route, and timing closure.
- Programming experience in Python, Perl, and/or C/C++.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
