Role Summary

Lead and establish the ASIC engineering organization and prototype integration laboratory in Kraków, Poland, delivering complex communication SoCs and supporting FPGA/prototyping and silicon bring-up for Blue Origin's TeraWave satellite communications initiative.

The role combines technical leadership in ASIC/SoC development and verification with site leadership responsibilities: staffing, processes, lab operations, cross-functional collaboration, and program delivery.

Responsibilities

Accountable for building and operating the Kraków ASIC organization and shared ASIC/prototype lab; deliver silicon products and verification infrastructure while partnering across systems, firmware, software, RF, and physical design teams.

• Establish, grow, and operate the Kraków ASIC engineering team with emphasis on design verification and expansion into front-end design and architecture.
• Define and execute technical strategy, staffing plan, operating model, development roadmap, and engineering processes.
• Lead ASIC development through requirements, RTL design, verification, implementation, tape-out, silicon bring-up, and product qualification.
• Own program execution: scope, schedule, quality, staffing, resource planning, and risk management for ASIC efforts.
• Establish scalable verification methodologies and infrastructure across block, subsystem, and full-SoC levels (simulation, emulation, FPGA prototyping, gate-level, formal, coverage).
• Provide oversight for SoC integration (processors, memory subsystems, bus fabrics, DMA, NoCs, high-speed interfaces, external IP, analog macros).
• Operate and scale the shared lab for FPGA prototyping, hardware-in-the-loop testing, embedded SW/firmware integration, modem and beamformer development, and system debug.
• Coordinate lab planning, equipment procurement, automation, configuration management, calibration, safety, and capacity/capital planning.
• Lead technical reviews, architecture assessments, design and verification reviews, and post-silicon failure analysis and corrective actions.
• Represent the Kraków ASIC organization in program reviews and partner with global engineering and program teams; travel as required.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, leadership experience, and operational capabilities required to build and deliver complex ASIC/SoC products and to run a prototype integration lab.

• 15+ years of ASIC, SoC, semiconductor, or complex digital system development experience.
• 8+ years leading engineering organizations with responsibility for hiring, team development, execution, and technical direction.
• Proven track record delivering complex ASICs or SoCs through tape-out and silicon bring-up.
• Significant experience in design verification of complex SoCs using SystemVerilog and modern verification methodologies; strong verification planning and closure skills (functional/code coverage, assertions, formal, regressions, emulation, FPGA prototyping, gate-level simulation, software co-simulation).
• Strong understanding of digital front-end design and implementation flows: RTL, CDC/RDC, lint, timing constraints, clocking, low-power/multi-voltage design, DFT, LEC, floorplanning, static timing, and power analysis.
• Experience integrating complex SoC components and high-speed interfaces (DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, SPI, SerDes) and working with external IP.
• Experience with DSP-intensive or communication SoCs (modem/PHY/MAC, coding, framing, high-throughput data movement).
• Experience building or operating hardware/ASIC/FPGA/embedded systems or system-integration laboratories, including FPGA prototyping and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through technical leads across multiple disciplines and to collaborate across geographically distributed teams.
• Strong communication skills and ability to balance performance, power, area, schedule, quality, cost, and risk; ability to work onsite in Kraków, Poland.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. Preferred: MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
