ASIC Engineer Intern - Infra Silicon Enablement

Role Summary

Join the Release to Production Engineering team to develop and support ASIC solutions for Meta’s data center applications. The Infra Silicon Enablement team works across pre-silicon validation, silicon bring-up, characterization and deployment in fleet.

This is a fixed-term internship (12–16 weeks) focused on validation, automation tooling, diagnostics, performance analysis and cross-functional debugging of silicon and systems.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Internship). Candidates should be currently enrolled in a degree program and plan to return to their program after the internship.

Responsibilities

Work across the silicon lifecycle to validate, debug and productionize ASICs for data center use.

• Contribute to pre-silicon validation, silicon bring-up and post-silicon characterization.
• Develop validation and automation tools for diagnostics, performance analysis and debug.
• Work on bare-metal and full-stack systems from lab to data center deployment.
• Translate production use cases into improved validation approaches and test coverage.
• Provide feedback to architecture and design teams based on lab and fleet findings.
• Root-cause and remediate silicon and system issues across the product lifecycle.

Requirements

Minimum technical skills and logistical requirements for internship candidates.

• Experience with troubleshooting, debugging and analytics for silicon products.
• Proficiency with Linux and programming in Python, C/C++ or similar languages; familiarity with data structures, algorithms and OOP.
• Ability to root-cause, resolve and remediate hardware/software issues.
• Availability for a 12–16 week internship period.
• Must obtain and maintain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in or pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related engineering field; completed coursework in computer architecture and/or electrical engineering is expected. Candidates must intend to return to their degree program after the internship. A Master’s or PhD in a related field is listed as preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant experience that strengthens candidacy for the internship.

• Experience in ASIC design, development or validation (bring-up, validation, emulation, characterization).
• Familiarity with silicon lifecycle for data-center domains (Video, AI/ML, Networking).
• Experience with modules/domains such as PCIe, Networking, Flash, Memory, CPU, GPU, DRAM (LP/DDR4/5, HBM).
• Understanding of embedded systems and common bus protocols (I2C, SPI, USB, PCIe).
• Knowledge of SW/FW/HW engineering or ASIC development cycles.
