Job Title
ASIC Engineer, Infrastructure Specialist
Role Summary
The role architects, implements, and validates low-level embedded firmware for data-center ASIC platforms, covering BootROM through device drivers and RTOS-based firmware. The position partners with silicon architects, hardware designers, OS and algorithm teams to enable chip bring-up and production-ready platform firmware.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 8+ years of relevant embedded systems and firmware development experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include firmware design, chip bring-up support, and technical leadership for platform firmware projects.
- Design and develop secure bootloader and BootROM for next-generation data-center ASICs.
- Lead embedded software engineering tasks and provide technical guidance to the team.
- Analyze, design, develop, and debug firmware for custom SoCs across development and validation phases.
- Serve as escalation point for complex development, performance, and evaluation issues.
- Support hardware development phases: architecture requirements, firmware architecture, implementation, simulation, FPGA debug, and chip bring-up.
- Collaborate with silicon architects, hardware designers, OS and algorithm teams to define and execute long-term firmware roadmaps.
- Implement power management, boot flow, scheduling, inter-processor communication, and firmware/system interfaces on RTOS or bare-metal platforms.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 8+ years of embedded systems development experience, including programming in C for development, debugging, testing, and performance analysis.
- Proven experience with BootROM, bootloaders, and secure boot development.
- Experience developing platform firmware for complex SoCs.
- Hands-on experience with embedded hardware platforms and low-level hardware concepts (clock-level issues, interrupts, polling).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience delivering end-to-end product solutions and leading cross-team features or projects.
- Familiarity with lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic/protocol analyzers) for hardware-level debugging.
- SoC block understanding and board bring-up experience.
- Scripting skills (Python or similar) for tooling and test automation.
- Experience with RTOS (preferably Zephyr) and embedded Linux.
- Experience developing peripheral drivers (PCIe, UART, I2C, SPI).
Education Requirements
B.S. degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
