ASIC Engineer, Foundry and IP
Role Summary
Join Meta's Infrastructure Silicon team to design high-performance, power-efficient ASICs for AI and immersive computing. Collaborate with foundry partners and physical design teams to evaluate process technologies, develop foundation IP, and deliver silicon test chips that validate new technology choices.
Experience Level
Mid-level - requires approximately 6 years of relevant foundry or ASIC engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include evaluating foundry technologies, driving IP PPA analysis, and supporting test-chip implementation.
- Analyze and benchmark foundry process offerings with physical design teams to inform product technology choices.
- Conduct early PPA evaluation of foundation IP via preliminary place-and-route experiments.
- Architect, design, and characterize standard cell libraries for high performance, low power, and high density.
- Run transistor-level simulations (SPICE), perform custom physical layouts, and manage automated library characterization flows.
- Evaluate and select third-party memory compilers (SRAM, register files, ROM) based on PPA trade-offs.
- Participate in physical implementation, verification, and tape-out of silicon test chips to validate IP and custom structures.
Requirements
Minimum technical qualifications and preferred skills.
- Must-have: Approximately 6 years' experience on a foundry team focused on PPA analysis and benchmarking; proven participation in test-chip tapeouts and end-to-end sign-off.
- Must-have: Deep understanding of CMOS device physics, digital circuit design, and advanced-node layout constraints.
- Must-have: Expert-level experience with Cadence Virtuoso, HSPICE, and Spectre.
- Must-have: Working knowledge of synthesis, place-and-route, static timing analysis (STA), and physical design verification (PDV) tools.
- Must-have: High proficiency in scripting for automation and data analysis (Python, TCL, Perl, SKILL).
- Nice-to-have: Experience optimizing memory compilers and custom structures for PPA.
