ASIC Engineer, Emulation

Role Summary

The ASIC Engineer, Emulation will lead emulation model builds and flows for Meta’s infrastructure silicon, focusing on Palladium, Protium, and Zebu platforms for data-center and AI SoCs. The role partners with design, DV, validation, software teams and third-party vendors to deploy scalable, automated emulation environments and support silicon bring-up and verification.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 6+ years of relevant experience in hardware emulation, verification, prototyping, or ASIC development.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include building and maintaining emulation environments, driving methodology improvements, and collaborating across teams to validate next-generation silicon.

• Architect, develop, and optimize emulation model builds for Palladium, Protium, and Zebu platforms to support complex SoC and IP prototyping.
• Lead methodology and flow development for hybrid emulation, accelerated verification, and co-simulation; integrate new tools into existing flows.
• Drive CI/CD automation, infrastructure, and continuous improvement for scalable model release and qualification.
• Collaborate with Design, DV, Validation, Software, and vendors to deliver robust emulation environments and resolve technical challenges.
• Own intake, feasibility evaluation, integration, and deployment of third-party vendor capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship; troubleshoot and remove build blockers to ensure model quality and reliability.
• Enable and debug high-speed interfaces (PCIe, USB, Ethernet) and networking protocols within emulation setups.
• Support bring-up, validation, and performance optimization for AI training and inference accelerators in emulation.

Requirements

Must-have (minimum qualifications and core skills).

• 6+ years of experience with hardware emulation, verification, prototyping, ASIC development cycles, pre/post-silicon validation, hybrid flows, CI/CD automation, and infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, Python, and C/C++ (or similar languages).
• Experience collaborating with internal and external partners and vendors on ASIC/system development.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and mentor other engineers.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with processor designs, GPUs, debug subsystems, networking SoCs, or AI SoCs.
• Proven expertise in emulation model builds and flows on Palladium, Protium, and Zebu platforms.
• Familiarity with model release/qualification best practices and capacity planning for emulation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
